Caron Foundation

Located in beautiful Wernersville, Pennsylvania is a comparatively low-frills rehab clinic on an estate of more than 100 acres. The Caron Foundation is reminiscent of a college campus. The Foundation’s top-flight reputation is grounded in its solid medical staff and its focus on returning to regular life after rehab. The clinic provides an outlet for those whose lives have been impacted by addictions, and offers educational programs for affected family members and loved ones. Caron also offers a huge slate of one- to three-day life-enrichment workshops -- from dance therapy to codependency seminars -- for individuals in all stages of addiction.

Caron, founded in 1957, is firmly rooted in the spiritual approach of Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-Step programs. "Many programs have steered away from spirituality," says Caron president and C.E.O. Douglas Teiman. "But here at Caron, we believe that true recovery is a spiritual experience, available to everyone,  whether agnostic, atheist, or devout Catholic." Caron stresses continuing involvement in 12-Step groups, after patients leave intensive treatment, as crucial to long-term recovery reports PBS.com.

With rates like $21,000 per month, famous guest like Liza Minnelli shell out major bucks for good treatment. ''The Caron Foundation saved my life,'' Ms. Minnelli said. ''I was born with this disease, which people don't understand, that they have found a gene. They have found that it runs in families. Like my mom had it. My father did not, but his father did. You can trace it back. The most important thing I can say to anyone suffering from compulsive obsessive anything is the word 'shame' must be removed," reported the New York Times.
The Caron Foundation does not use glitz and glamour for their patients but instead the staff uses extravagant knowledge to help their patients recover fast. Whether its Liza Minnelli or just plain old joe smoe, this clinic has truly helped everyone in many different ways.
